Property Description

THE ICONIC COLLINS-WELLINGTON ESTATE | A RARE PIECE OF SAN DIEGO HISTORY Presenting the extraordinary Collins-Wellington Estate, an iconic Spanish Revival masterpiece originally built in 1928 by visionary H.A. Collins and majestically situated on approximately 8 secluded acres in the heart of National City. Rich in history, architectural significance, and timeless elegance, this remarkable Mills Act-designated estate represents a rare opportunity to own one of San Diego County's treasured legacy properties. Beyond the gated, tree-lined entrance, a spectacular 5,766-square-foot residence unfolds, showcasing 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and extraordinary craftsmanship rarely found today. Inspired by the grandeur of Spanish castle architecture, the home features soaring 18-foot cathedral ceilings, hand-painted beam ceilings, original peg-and-groove hardwood floors, intricate wrought-iron detailing, imported Spanish tile, graceful architectural arches, and exquisite inlaid onyx accents. Designed for grand-scale entertaining and distinctive everyday living, the residence offers expansive formal rooms, a dramatic ballroom, multiple fireplaces, and an impressive upstairs loft overlooking the magnificent main living space an ideal setting for a private office, library, artist's studio, or secluded retreat. Every room tells a story, reflecting the artistry, character, and craftsmanship of a remarkable era. Outside, the expansive grounds offer exceptional privacy, mature landscaping, and an extraordinary canvas for creating a truly special estate lifestyle. The possibilities are as distinctive as the property itself, with potential for multigenerational living, elegant entertaining, or a private creative retreat, subject to applicable approvals. Ideally positioned near downtown San Diego, waterfront attractions, shopping, dining, and major freeways, this secluded historic sanctuary offers a remarkable balance of accessibility, privacy, and architectural distinction. The Mills Act designation may offer substantial property tax savings for qualified owners, subject to program requirements.
